1976-016 ResolutionRESOLUTION NO. 1976 - 16 OFFERED BY Councilwoman McKinney A RESOLUTION OF INTENT TO PROCEED WITH THE KIWANIS MULTI-PURPOSE BUILDING AND HISTORY WALL. WHEREAS, the Fairlawn Kiwanis Club has indicated an intent to contribute a substantial sum of money to the City of Fairlawn to be used to offset a portion of the cost of construction'of a multi-purpose facility in the vicinity of the Fairlawn Municipal Complex; and WHEREAS, the Fairlawn Park and Recreation Board has developed preliminary plans for the Kiwanis Multi-Purpose Building with funds heretofore appropriated by this Council; and WHEREAS, the Fairlawn American Bicentennial Commission did propose that a permanent facility be established commemorating the 200th Anniversary of the American Revolution incorporating a wall with imbedded artifacts from American historical sites; and WHEREAS, The Fairlawn Park and Recreation Board has determined that in order to accomplish the development and construction of the Kiwanis Multi- Purpos'e Building and History Wall within the bicentennial year of 1976, it will be necessary to designate architects at the earliest possible time to coordinate and finalize the plans developed to date; and WHEREAS, the Fairlawn Park and Recreation Board desires a statement of intent from this Council for the purpose of moving into the final planning stage for said facilities. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRLAWN, OHIO: Section 1: That this Council does hereby recognize and acknowledge the work and planning of the Fairlawn Park and Recreation Board together with the Fairlawn American Bicentennial Commission and the Kiwanis Club of Fairlawn. Section 2: That this Council requests a written committment from the Kiwanis Club of Fairlawn setting forth the scope of its financial support for the proposed multi-purpose building. Section 3: That this Council hereby expresses an intent to continue its interest in the planning of a Bicentennial Park. Section 4: That it is hereby found and determined that this legislation complies with Section 121.22, O.R.C. regarding notification of meetings and all deliberations of this Council pertaining hereto have been conducted in accordance therewith.
